Amlot notes

We planted a flag

In May last year, we founded Amlot. Here’s what happened next.

Friends and colleagues, past and present, congratulated us and asked us more about our work. Amlot had given us a name, a home and a space to talk about what we do.

We’ve done some great work with new clients that we’re really proud of, and we’ve had a lot of discussions about marketing and communication.

The common thread through all these discussions is our heartfelt belief that lots of things we do at work can be done better.

We also talk about what marketing and communication isn’t, or at least what it doesn’t have to be. There’s just so much noise out there it’s sometimes hard to concentrate on what’s really important right now.

For example, we’ve been talking internally about SEO (more on that soon), and we keep finding out that its value as a tool is often misunderstood.

If you can’t describe the value your product or service is bringing to your audience, then the best SEO in the world isn’t going to help you (Spoiler alert: but we are!).

Throughout our discussions with clients we talk about the need to pull back and look at the issue from higher up. Often, they are tied down by day-to-day work or the next target or deadline. We help them look at their work with a fresh perspective and find out what they should do next.

Right now we’re working on a new product aimed at improving team alignment and communication. We’ll be sharing more details about this in the coming weeks.

We have yet to meet a company that says they’re happy with their marketing and communication and there’s no way that their teams could work better together.

As long as this is the case, we’ve got work to do.
